Alliance for Housing Justice commends the White House's historic pledge to act on tenants' nationwide calls and curb skyrocketing rents.
President Biden’s call for a cap on corporate rent increases is a testament to the power of organized tenants and advocates telling our stories, demanding more for our communities and not taking no for an answer.
A call to Congress is just a first step – there is a lot more that the President can and must do to make affordable rents a reality for tenants in the United States.
We will continue to insist that every one of us—no exceptions— deserves safe and stable housing, and that the best way to get there is for tenants and communities to keep organizing and building power to transform our broken housing system together.
